Please review the following information and come prepared to represent yourself as you would for the Iowa County Fair and other promotional appearances you will be making as the Iowa County Fairest of the Fair.

Newspaper Article

• Please have an article prepared for the Dodgeville Chronicle and your local newspaper. You should include in the article background information about your self and your future plans, along with how excited you are to be the Iowa County Fairest of the Fair and the different events you will be appearing at this summer.

Dress:

• Dress as you would for a business interview. This would include a dress, suit, or coordinated skirt/slack outfit.
• No formal attire required.

Group Interview:

• The 3 judges will be asking all of the candidates questions about the fair and themselves

1 minute (not 30 sec.) Introductions:

• State your name and where you are from. Include a little about what you are doing currently, extra curricular activities your involved in, and what your plans for the future are.

1 minute (not 30 sec.) Mock Radio Spotlight:

• Pretend you are the Iowa County Fairest of the Fair and you are going to promote the Iowa County Fair. Using the information enclosed and "links" on our website at iowacountyfair.org Come up with an advertisement to get peoples attention and get them to come out to the fair.
• You may include the Fair Dates and any event or information you feel is important.
• Be creative, enthusiastic and convincing!
• Don't forget to introduce yourself.
• Have fun with it!
• No singing please.

Auction:

• Your auction item can be homemade or donated from a local business
• Your auction item should represent your area or yourself.
• As people enter you will be standing by your items introducing yourself and explaining your auction item. The judges will be watching to see how outgoing you can be.
• The selling price of your item does not influence the judges. They will be looking at the way you present your item and your enthusiasm.
• Ideas for auction items (these are all things I've seen at the state level)
  1.  Tree/ bush (large shrubbery) being pulled in little red wagon
  2.  Power washer
  3.  Homemade items: Quilt, Baked Goods, Wood Carving, Afghan or a combination of things.
  4.  Themed items: Basket for a weekend getaway (Cheese, crackers, wine, passes to a local tourist spot, & hotel room). John Deere (Toy tractor, shirt, cap, & something home made by contestant). Pampering Basket (Lotions, relaxation music, candles, dinner for 2 and for a local thing a masseuse could donate a massage).

Iowa County is looking for a candidate that will serve as the official ambassador, spokesperson and hostess for the Iowa County Fair and represent Iowa County at the Wisconsin Fair Association Convention in January. All of the activities you will be participating in at the banquet are similar to the activities during the state competition in January. Best of luck to you in pursuit of the title, "Iowa County Fairest of the Fair".
