Melissa Doyle - Fairest Of The Fair

2009 Iowa County
Fairest Of The Fair
Melissa Doyle

Hi! I'm Melissa Doyle, and I am truly honored to serve as the 2009 Iowa County Fairest of the Fair. I am the daughter of Mike and Cindy Doyle, and I grew up on our family livestock farm in rural Mineral Point. I graduated from Mineral Point High School in 2007, and am currently attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I will be a junior this fall. I am double majoring in Agriculture and Applied Economics and Agriculture Journalism, and would someday like to obtain a law degree specializing in Agriculture Law.

Over the years, 4-H and FFA have both played a very important role in my life. I have been an active 4-H member since joining the Jonesdale Jays 4-H Club in early elementary school. Through 4-H, I have been an Iowa County 4-H Ambassador, the Vice President of the Wisconsin 4-H Youth Leader Council, a member of the Iowa County 4-H Livestock Judging Team, a 4-H camp counselor, and an exhibitor at the county and state fairs. In high school, I was also an officer and member of the Mineral Point FFA Chapter, where I was involved in many local, state, and national events. By participating in these organizations, my passion and dedication to the agricultural industry continues to grow every day!

I look forward to meeting may of you at the various community events taking place this summer, and hope to see you all at the 153rd Iowa County Fair.

Jillian Weier

Hello, I’m Jillian Weier and I am delighted to be the 2008 Iowa County Fairest of the Fair. I am the daughter of Mark and Sarah Weier, and I grew up on our family dairy farm just outside of Dodgeville. I will be a junior this fall at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, majoring in Agribusiness.

In 4-H I showed at the county and state levels in Dairy, Ceramics, Drawing and Painting, and Photography. My summers growing up were spent working on my projects with the anticipation of exhibiting my hard work at the fair. I was also highly active in my school’s FFA chapter and Iowa County Junior Holsteins. The opportunities provided through these organizations allowed me to meet many new people and discover my passion for the agricultural industry.

I hope to meet many of you during the summer at community events and I can’t wait to see you at the Iowa County Fair!

Livia Daentl

Hi! My name is Livia Daentl, and I am extremely honored to hold this year's position as Iowa County Fairest of the Fair! I am the oldest daughter of Bob and Puala Daentl. Our family dairy farm is located just outside of Edmund where we milk 60 Holstiens and a handful of Guernseys. I graduated from Iowa-Grant High School in 2005 and I am currently attending the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where I will be a junior this fall majoring in Elementray Education and double minoring in Inclusion (Special Education)and Spanish.

4-H has played a very important role in my life since early elementary school. Through 4-H, I have been an exhibitor at the county and state fairs, and have had the chance to promote such a great organization locally, as well as round the county, state and nation. In high school, I was a member or our school's FFA Chapter where I had the opportunity of working with many new people and keeping my interest in agriculture alive and strong. I have always had a strong desire to represent Iowa County in this capacity and look forward to a fun-filled summer!

Thank you to Lands End for the donation of State Competition Apparel.

Stephanie Paull

Hello, I’m Stephanie Paull and I am honored to be the 2006 Iowa County Fairest of the Fair. Since this year is the Iowa County Fair’s 150th Anniversary, I feel even more privileged to hold such a title. I am the daughter of Bruce and Donna Paull. I have grown up on our family dairy farm just south of Ridgeway. I have been an exhibitor at the Iowa County Fair since I was in kindergarten and first became a member of 4-H. Since then I have become involved in 4-H at not only the local, but also the county and state levels. I have also been active in many clubs and organizations through school, including FFA. Through my involvement on my family farm, 4-H, and FFA, I have decided to pursue a career in agriculture. In the fall I will be attending the University of Wisconsin Madison with Agribusiness as my major. Again I am honored and privileged to be the 2006 Iowa County Fairest of the Fair. To be able to take part of such a huge milestone as the 150th Anniversary of the Iowa County Fair is an experience of a lifetime that I’m glad I get to experience.

Andrea Dolan

Andrea is a Dodgeville High School Graduate who is now in her second year at the UW-Platteville majoring in Animal Science with dairy emphasis. Upon graduation she would like to work in nutrition or for a genetic company focusing on the dairy industry. Andres has been involved with many activities at the fair over years in 4-H, and now realizes how important it is to become involved. Andrea believes that county fairs need more promotion to increase attendance. "Most people in the community don't realize how much work young children and adults put into all their fair projects."
